The Abington Junior Comets belong to the Northern Area Junior Football League, NAJFL. We follow the NAJFL league rules. There is a link to their website via the Jr. Comets website for more information about our league.

!Beginning the week of September 6th,

FOOTBALL A,B AND C TEAM Practice will now be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

from 5:30 TO 7:30 PM

D TEAM will no longer practice on Wednesday.

D team practice

will be tuesday and thursday only.

boys should arrive at practice with the following:

Helmet with colored mouth guard
girdle with pads and cup
practice pants with pads
shoulder pads
practice jersey over shoulder pads
football spikes with socks
Arm and elbow pads are optional and are not provided. However, Battaglia Sporting Goods have a selection of these.
mouthguard COLORED and must attach to helmet (no clear unless for orthodonics with a DR. excuse)
Thermas jug of water with name clearly written (individual water bottles are not enough and do not keep cold)
HELMET EYE SHIELDS ARE PROHIBITED (unless with a medical necessary doctor written permission)
GAME UNIFORMS ARE NOT TO BE WORN TO PRACTICE, VARSITY FOOTBALL GAMES or any other event outside Jr. Comet games. If a child quits or is removed during the season, uniforms/equipment must be cleaned and surrendered immediately to AJC.

! there has been a change to our Abington South team schedule. Week #5 Abington South vs. West Side at West Side has been moved by the NAJFL to Saturday evening September 18th.

Age & Weight Limits:

C Team - minimum age - Football at least 7 years old by May 1st

maximum age - football 10 years old if born on or after May 1st

maximum Weight - 105lbs. week one. 110lbs. by week three.*

B Team- minimum age - Football 10 years old if born before May 1st

maximum age - football 12 years old if born on or after May 1st

maximum Weight - 130lbs. week one. 135lbs. by week three*

A Team - minimum age - Football 12 years old if born before May 1st

maximum age - football 14 years old if born on or after February 1st

maximum Weight - 150lbs. week one. 155lbs. by week three*

* There is no minimum weight. The NAJFL employs that at the first game week, a player must not exceed the maximum week one weight. The league has an allowance for weight increase for weeks two and three. By the third game week, a player may not exceed the week three maximum weight. Players are officially weighed in before their games on weeks one, two and three.
